Before searching the Defendant's pockets, a police woman asked him if he had any needles or other sharp objects on him. After the Defendant said 'no' the police officer put her hand in his pocket and was injured by a needle which made her bleed. He was convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm under s47 Offences Against the Person Act 1861.
